All about TISS-NET

 TISS-NET exam is conducted for admission to programs offered by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). The scores are accepted only by TISS, at multiple campuses in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Tuljapur and Guwahati.The Test is Objective in nature and has questions related to General Knowledge, Analytical Ability, Logical Reasoning, and English Proficiency. TISS NET 2019 will continue to not have negative marking for any programme including HRM. Candidates who have applied for a single programme or multiple programmes will be attempting a single question paper with 100 questions, for duration of 100 minutes.

TISS-NET Exam Eligibility

To be able to get eligible for TISS-NET, candidates to fulfil the following criterion:
  • Should Hold a Bachelor’s Degree and have secured a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. The students belonging to any of the reserved categories like Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Persons with Disability (PWD) or Differently Abled (DA) category must have at least 45% marks.
  • The degree has to be awarded by any of the Universities included by an act of the central or a state legislature in India, or any other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or are declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or hold an equivalent qualification recognized by the MHRD, India.
  • Applicants who are appearing for the final year of their bachelor’s degree and the candidates who have completed their graduation degree requirements and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply. If selected, candidates will be allowed to join the program provisionally, only if he/ she submits a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of her/his College/Institute mentioning that the particular candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date when the certificate was issued.

Admission Process

Admission process: The selection of candidates for different programmes happens in two stages and has three components of assessment. 
All candidates appear for the National entrance test (TISSNET). Based on the performance in the TISSNET examination, only short listed candidates are called for the Pre Interview Test and Personal Interview.(PIT/PI).

2nd Stage Selection Process: PIT (pre-interview test) consisting of essay writing (WAT) and group discussion(6-10 people, 15 minutes to write 200 words, 30 minutes to discuss) followed by a Personal Interview (PI) for 20-30 minutes on an average with 3 panelists.
